The baby has been born!

Hello all! The baby that we've all been waiting for for so long was born yesterday! He is doing very well. He has already been matched to one of our fully approved families! We are so excited to see that this will now go forward! The birth mother and father got to be so close to Mauricio that they named him after him. Of course the family can name him whatever they want, but for now, he is little Josue Mauricio! He should be home in about 10 months! I hope to have photos to post soon!

Beyond that - they did hold a Joint Meeting but we did not get any families approved at that meeting. There is another meeting scheduled for the last week of this month and we will again hope and see if anything is done at that meeting.

Hello all! It's been a long time - but we got some news today! Here's a portion of the Email from Mauricio:
Once again, OPA has changed its Director, trying to improve their work and clear the files of families asking for adoptions.
The new OPA's Director is a lady, who has been partner working with current Procuradora Sonia Madriz.
I know her from years ago, she is a young lawyer, and Christian as is Procuradora. She accepted that they are in a serious problem with the files pending for approval in OPA.
When I mentioned her that some of our families are thinking on leave the process, and many families have forsaken the process, she asked for the list of our families pending for joint meeting.
She said that the instructions received for her work in OPA, directly from Procuradora, is the clearing of older files this year, and the preparing of files for joint meetings, which they have scheduled to celebrate once by month.
She promised to fulfill our files.
So - this all sounds like it could be good news for our waiting families! Please pray!

Jared

Hi all,
Well, timing is everything - and we have to believe everthing is in God's hands. Just when the family from Open Door was able to get enough information from their doctor here to feel they could move forward and be matched with Jared, I received word that ISNA had found another family for him and that he was officially matched with them. So the good news is that Jared has a family - but it is not an Open Door family. Please pray for him and for both the family getting him and the one that didn't.

Jared

There is an Open Door family considering Jared. We are waiting on the advice of a doctor here in the US who is reviewing the information we've received on him. Please keep him and the family in your prayers!

Medicals back

Well we received the medicals back on the little boy and his prognosis is excellent! I am so excited about this. I wish he was available for any family who wanted to consider him, but ISNA made their instructions very clear that he was to be matched with a family who was already approved. Please keep Jerad and his potential new families in your prayers!

SN boy available

I received an Email from Mauricio this morning and he told me that a high class, respectable lady who he knows well, will be taking care of a 2 year old boy given to her by ISNA.

She has received instructions from ISNA to find adoptive parents for this boy, among the approved families by OPA. ISNA has offered her to expedite the adoption immediately.

She said that the little boy (Jerad) is suffering from a lung problem, but that it is under control by medication.

I have both called and Emailed the woman this morning and I have received some medical information in Spanish and am having it translated. This little boy will only be available to families who are already approved.

Email from Mauricio (sent late on Friday)

Barbara... good morning!!
I had my meeting yesterday with Procuradora, and this is the result:

The joint meetings are taking place monthly; last week they had the last one, and Hollifields were approved as adoptive family.
The children who are in disposal for assigning in adoption, that Sanchez' expressed interest on, are in ISNA's CEO hands, and he must state the matching. She said that ISNA's CEO has rigurous criteria, and she must respect him, but she would like to have more space for taking decision on these issues. OPA will notify us when ISNA states the matching.
Next week they will continue the joint meeting suspended last Friday.I'm waiting the papers that I asked you regarding the DeVries.
Thanks!!
Mauricio
---------------------------------------
So, there is good news, the meetings are continuing! We have another family approved!! Hooray! And we are waiting to hear about the siblings for the Sanchez family. The request was received there. Keep this in your prayers!

Also I spoke to Walter and he let me know that they are working with the advertising specialists there in ES and will be ready to start getting the word out through advertising about the adoption opportunities. We are very hopeful that this will help Mauricio to find more children for our families.

I sent an Email to Mauricio asking, "Is there any news you can give us?? Any Joint Meeting coming up soon? Any news? Any more children/babies/birthmothers?
Also, I’m waiting to hear anything more on the Sanchez family and the request for information on the 3 siblings.
AND - Also for information on meeting with the Procurador about Carmen / Morgan family. Please let me know on these as soon as possible."

He replied, "The only news is that I got the appointment with Procuradora for the 24th June, at 2:30 pm, and I'm going to update the real way to work established by Procuradora/ISNA in relation with the twice monthly joint meetings that she told us when we were talking with her last March. Also I've announced to her secretary that my other purpose of the appointment is the Morgan/Carmen's case.I have no news regarding the Sanchez's request, but tell them that I'm going to ask about this next Friday.Best regards.Mauricio"
So, please pray for a successful meeting with the Procurador on the 24th!

Latest News

Maurcio had a list of 7 children being offered through ISNA. This is great news. There were 4 individual children and 3 who made up a sibling group. The individual children were ages 6 and up. The siblings were ages 4, 6 & 10. While these children are older than most of our families have requested, it is exciting to see children being cleared and offered through ISNA!

Welcome to our El Salvador Blog!

How about this!? Open Door is starting blogs for their different programs. I will plan to update here whenever I have news.
